DIY: Frame Your Flag!

I am not by any means a DIY pro.
To be honest I didn't know what a DIY was till earlier this year.. thanks to my addiction to Pintrest.

But I do love going thrift shopping and salvaging. At the beginning of the summer my Mother and I went down to our salvage shop to kill some time. We stumbled upon wooden window frames, which from our constant browsing on Pintrest gave us some wonderful ideas!

That was almost two months ago.. so I decided to finally do something with one of them. And here's what I did!

Items Used:
Sewing Pins (I would have rather used push pins but I couldn't find mine and was too impatient to keep searching.)
A flag (I chose the American flag but any flag will work, I know for a fact that the Dixie flag also looks wonderful in the widow frame.)
Norwex Polish Cloth (An amazing cloth that EVERY woman should have)
Luke Bryan's CD "Doing My Thing" (This is necessary for the proper atmosphere.)

First I sanded down the old window frame and then rinsed it off with the hose outside. The glass still had some awful streaks so I washed each section using Norwex as my streak free cleaner. I was done in no time!

After my window was all washed and ready I placed my flag backwards onto the frame, lining it up exactly how I wanted it. (Make sure your flag does NOT touch the ground while working with it, this is a sign of disrespect.)

Once I had everything the way I wanted it I began to fold...

 And pin....

And fold some more....

In the end your flag should like something like this. (or better, that is possible)

Once you are finished it's time to find the perfect place for you frame to call home!

Everyone will think you're so patriotic it will be great!

That's all folks!

Studying, Socializing, and Sleeping Oh My!

Year 2.

23 More days till my Mom has surgery.

24 More days till I drive back down South.

37 More Days till classes begins.

38 More Days till I leave for Disney.

It's Go Time.

Hello my name is Stephanie and I'm about to go crazy.

Can we all say time crunch?! Because I'm about to hit the ground running!

This year I will be one of those "upper class-man." That's a scary thought! With this extra pressure added on I now have the responsibility of making sure my roomies and I have all that we need for our apartment. This obviously calls for a trip to IKEA right? Right! Put that on my list of things to do...

As you can see above I broke down my month of August for you. My Mom is going in for her Lumpectomy with a Sentinel Node Biopsy. *cue jaw drop* On the 14th of August. Then the very next day my Father, boyfriend, (who is flying up from Arkansas) and I drive 8 hours to school to move me directly into my apartment. Upon many jokes of making my apartment look like a man cave, I have a day and a half  to unpack and set up before the freshman move in that following Saturday. Classes begin on August 28th! AND I leave on August 29th for Disney World!

Currently I am in the calm before the storm. But I can see it all on the horizon and in Hunter Hayes famous words "I wish I had a storm warning."

Summer Movies!

I would not call this summer "normal" or "typical" far from it! Babysitting for all my little cousins, helping my Mom at work, while preparing for her surgery in August, and getting ready to go back to college is crazy!

But besides all the craziness I have had time to see a few summer flicks and wanted to give a review on how awesome they all are!

Kicked off the summer with the ever so wonder Great Gatsby. A wild drama for sure. Since I read the book in high school I was extremely excited to see this movie recreated. And I must say I was NOT disappointed at all! Love, romance, lies, and murder it's all tied together beautifully. I wouldn't recommend this movie to the younger teens for the simple reason they would not find it enjoyable. Overall great movie, great acting, and I can't wait to see it again!

The second movie of the summer I watched at the drive in with my sweet boyfriend. Monsters University was simply adorable! Besides being hilarious I loved how Disney tied the two movies together and how each character formed into who they are in the original movie Monsters Inc. I am the movie watcher who enjoys guessing what's next and predicting the movies. (this bothers every one who watches movies with me) During this flick though I was completely content just letting the story unfold in front of me! At the end of the movie the lady in the car next to our truck told me that my laughter made the movie better. So obviously it was funny!

The Lone Ranger staring the famous Johnny Depp got terrible reviews and I simply cannot see why! Walking into the theater I had no idea how funny this movie was going to be! Besides the classic Depp humor, the movie had amazing camera shots and the portrayal of the Indian raids during the time period we phenomenal. This is definitly a movie I would want on my shelf to watch at home!

We live in M'erica! So why not watch a movie on how we kick butt? My boyfriend and I were on the edge of our seats watching White House Down. Tatum and Foxx did a fabulous acting job and getting to see them in a different light then normal was refreshing. Guns, explosions, car chases, and fighting for ones you love, this movie has it all! For sure going to see this again once it hits DVD.

Everyone loves this super bad. Super Dad! Despicable Me 2 was just as precious as number one. I'm normally not a fan of squeals but this one had just as thrilling plot line and even more adorable jokes. Besides watching what was happening on the screen some of the funnier moments happened behind the main characters which is always a funny extra! My Mom and 9 year old cousin also saw this flick with me and I'm sure we laughed louder then any other group!

So as you can see I have had my fair share of watching movies this summer and I'm happy to report that I am in love with each movie and can't wait to watch them all again!

Finally after TWO WHOLE WEEKS my computer is back in my lap (or on my desk) and ready to help me blog again!

As you can see I failed at blogging every day in June...But I'm back now and simply cannot wait to get back into the swing of blogging!
