You're such a "Hipster"...

What is a Hipster?

A person who wears, thick rimmed glasses, and listens to indie rock?

Why are people so offended when they are referred to as a Hipster?

Urban Dictionary defines a Hipster as:
a subculture of men and women typically in their 20's and 30's that value independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, an appreciation of art and indie-rock, creativity, intelligence, and witty banter...

I don't know where you live, or who your friends are but the school I go to is often classified as a hipster college. Other colleges even make memes about our school to make fun of how non "main-stream" we are.

What I just can't understand is why people are automatically offended when someone calls them a "hipster".

After pondering over this for a while I've come to a conclusion...

Being called a hipster is no different then being called girly, or nerdy or a punk. It's simply another way to classify people and try to place a label on someone's life.

If you enjoy your life, the way you live, the way you act, then don't stop doing those things because someone tries to put a label over your head.

Be yourself darling because, frankly, everyone else is already taken.

Now It's My Turn To Pop The Question...

Besides having the groom and your family with you on your wedding day a bride also needs her girls!

After searching Pinterest for ideas on how to ask my bridesmaids and maid of honor to be in the wedding I finally found one I couldn't pass up!

"Now it's my turn to pop the question... will you be my bridesmaid?"

First I started with a trip to Michaels (can I get an amen!) So here I am face to face with the first craft of many for the future wedding. Onward I walked with my 40% off coupon ready to begin.

In the end the above picture is what I decided on to purchase.
  •  -Small ivory note cards and envelopes.
  • -Brown fold up box.
  • -Double sided tape.
  • -Burlap Gypsy cards.
  • -One Paper pad (My Mind Eye).
  • - Blue paper
  • -Ring pop

I began by cutting my sheets of scrap-booking paper to fit the lid of my ring box. You can use any paper you want I picked this pack because it matches the theme of our wedding. After I measured and cut the paper I wrote on the burlap pieces with a Sharpie pen.

I doubled taped the burlap to the paper then the paper to the lid of the box. After I had all my pieces together I wrote a personal note for each of my girls, and placed it in the box along with the blue stuffing and ring pop.

For my Maid of Honor's box I just changed the wording written on the burlap.

Right before I gave the girls their boxes I opened their ring pop and placed it in the box and tied it off with some lace ribbon.

To add to the memories I also wrote on the bottom of each box as well.

One of my lovely bridesmaids goes to a different college than me so I had to mail her box to her. She was still excited though!

I am so excited to have these girls join Chris and I during our big day! I wouldn't have it any other way!

Home Away From Home

Hello college! Hello late nights, early mornings, and Starbucks.

I can finally say after a month or so I am now all settled in to my apartment at school! (yippie)

So I figured sharing pictures of how my roomies decorate and organized the place would be in order!

Starting in the living room:

We live on the third floor, our balcony faces the club house/pool

That L-Couch is so comfy

My roomie Frankie brought this table, isn't it adorable!
The Kitchen:

Our kitchen. Look how clean!
 Bathroom #1:

This is Jessie & Lexi's bathroom
 Bathroom #2:

Frankie and I share this bathroom connected to our room

Ever girl needs her beauty supplies
 My Bedroom:

I always wanted a walk-in-closet!

Our room!

This is my bed and my DIY frame.

More clothes are in this (hehe)

I did not take a picture of Jessie & Lexi's room because they were cleaning it, but their room is also adorable!

God has truly blessed me with amazing roommates this year and I love coming home to them at the end of a long day. The three of them bring a smile quickly to my face!

Studying, Socializing, and Sleeping Oh My!

College.

Year 2.

23 More days till my Mom has surgery.

24 More days till I drive back down South.

37 More Days till classes begins.

38 More Days till I leave for Disney.

It's Go Time.

Hello my name is Stephanie and I'm about to go crazy.

Can we all say time crunch?! Because I'm about to hit the ground running!

This year I will be one of those "upper class-man." That's a scary thought! With this extra pressure added on I now have the responsibility of making sure my roomies and I have all that we need for our apartment. This obviously calls for a trip to IKEA right? Right! Put that on my list of things to do...

IKEA Shopping List
As you can see above I broke down my month of August for you. My Mom is going in for her Lumpectomy with a Sentinel Node Biopsy. *cue jaw drop* On the 14th of August. Then the very next day my Father, boyfriend, (who is flying up from Arkansas) and I drive 8 hours to school to move me directly into my apartment. Upon many jokes of making my apartment look like a man cave, I have a day and a half  to unpack and set up before the freshman move in that following Saturday. Classes begin on August 28th! AND I leave on August 29th for Disney World!

Currently I am in the calm before the storm. But I can see it all on the horizon and in Hunter Hayes famous words "I wish I had a storm warning."
